Our Beliefs

GOD

We believe that there is one true, holy God, eternally existing and reveals Himself to us as the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit; each of Whom possesses all the attributes of deity and the characteristics of personality.  We believe God is timeless and has always been.  God is everywhere, all powerful, all knowing and  the Creator of all things.  God's love for us is unending, and He wants all of His children to be with Him forever in heaven.  By His power, God continues to sustain His creation as He fulfills His redemptive purposes.

JESUS

We believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God.  Jesus is timeless and has always been.  For a short time He gave up His home in heaven to live among man on earth.  Jesus was born of a virgin and lived a life of perfect obedience to the Father and voluntarily atoned for the sin of all mankind by dying on the cross as mankind's substitute, thus satisfying divine justice and accomplishing salvation for all who trust in Him alone.  Jesus rose from the dead to offer salvation to all people through spiritual rebirth.  Jesus ascended into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of the Father, where He continually makes intercession for His own.  Jesus will come again to earth, personally and visibly, to consummate history and the eternal plan of God.

HOLY SPIRIT

The essential accomplishment of a genuine saving relationship with Jesus Christ is a life of holiness and obedience, attained by believers as they submit to the Holy Spirit.  As Jesus ascended into heaven, His physical presence left the earth, but He promised to send the Holy Spirit so that His spiritual presence would still be among mankind.  The Holy Spirit awakens the minds of sinners enabling them the recognize their need of a Savior and regenerates them.  At the point of salvation The Holy Spirit guides believers in understanding and applying the Scripture while empowering Christians for specific purposes as they live the Christian life on earth.  The power of the Holy Spirit is available to all believers; as His power and control make it possible for the believer to lead a life of Christlike character and to bear fruit to the glory of the Father.

The Church

The results of a relationship with Jesus Christ is that all believers become members of His body, the Church.  The Scripture commands believers to gather together to devote themselves to worship, prayer, the teaching of His Word, the observance of baptism and Communion, fellowship, service to the body through the development and use of talents and spiritual gifts, and outreach to the world.  Wherever God's people meet regularly in obedience to this command, there is the local expression of the Church.  Under the watchcare of elders and other supportive leadership, its members are to work together in love and unity, intent on the one ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ

The Bible

We believe that Scripture in its entirety originated with God and that it was given through the instrumentality of chosen men.  The Bible is composed of 66 books of the Old and New Testament and speaks with the authority of God while reflecting the backgrounds, styles, and vocabularies of the human authors.  We hold that the scriptures are infallible and inerrant in the original manuscripts.  They are the unique, full and final authority on all matters of faith and practice, and there are no other writings similarly inpired by God.

People

God created us so we might know Him and have a relationship with Him.  God also created us with a freedom of choice.  Adam and Eve's disobedience resulted in their immediate spiritual death.  They did not die physically at the time they sinned, however they were separated from God (spiritual death).  Because of our sin, we experience brokenness and suffering in our lives.  We are motivated to look to Christ as the source of our strength while receiving His grace; unmerited favor, and accepting our new identity in Christ while experiencing a renewal of our mind.  At this point we desire to live a life pleasing to God through total surrender.

Living God’s Way

We must reckon ourselves dead to sin (Romans 6:11).  We have victory because of the power of the cross.  He is the power in us for the journey.
